Abstract:The prevalence of type 2 diabetes among older people is increasing every year. The main pathogenetic mechanisms of type 2 diabetes in elderly patients include disruption of the intestinal microbiota, cellular aging, oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction, immune and inflammatory processes.
