Hemerobiidae from Bulgaria (Neuroptera)
New localities for the total of 28 species of Hemerobiidae occurring in Bulgaria are reported. Out of these Hemerobius zernyi is new for the fauna of continental Europe and Wesmaelius fassnidgei, Wesmaelius mortoni, Hemerobius atrifrons, Hemerobius schedli, Hemerobius marginatus, Psectra diptera, and Sympherobius klapaleki are new for the Balkan Peninsula. The finds in Bulgaria offer a major contribution to our knowledge on the distribution of Wesmaelius fassnidgei, Hemerobius schedli, and Hemerobius zernyi as well as of Hemerobius atrifrons and Sympherobius klapaleki; 8 other species have a range further south. Species of northern origin prevail in Bulgarian fauna (71%). Zoogeographically they are oreotundral (with alpine, oreal origin) – 1 species and arboreal – the remaining species, namely: Holarctic – 3, Siberian – 11, Siberian‐Mediterranean – 2, Middle European – 3, Holomediterranean – 7 and Pontomediterranean – 1.
