Institutional power and historical hegemony: A reply to williams (1991)

Abstract: Sexism continues to be rife in psychologysustained by the aperation of institutional power. I argue that Williams' (1991) article provides a good example of such power in operationspecifically. the power to reconstmct historythmby illustrating my original thesis (Widkinson, 199Ob). I present further examples of institutional power in action and consider the implicatians of my analysis for women's organisations in psychology and for disciplinary change more generally.
