Insights into the Rare cis-AB Blood Group: In Silico Genotyping and Analysis in the Indian Subcontinent

Abstract

The rare blood groups reported from India include the Bombay phenotype, -D-/-D-, In (a+b-) and other weaker variants of ABH antigens. We report a case of cis-AB blood group, identified in an Indian patient whose blood grouping was performed by the column agglutination technique, conventional tube technique (CTT) after 15 minutes of incubation at room temperature as well as at 40C and subsequently whole exome sequencing for molecular analysis. The blood group was identified serologically as A2B3 and confirmed to be a cisAB phenotype by next-generation sequencing.
