Insights into the metabolite profiles of Rubus chingii Hu at different developmental stages of fruit

Abstract: The fruits of Rubus chingii Hu have high medicinal and nutritional values. However, the metabolite profiles of R. chingii, especially the alterations during different development stages of fruit, have not been comprehensively analyzed, hindering the effective utilization of the unique species. In this study, we comprehensively analyzed the metabolites of R. chingii fruit at four developmental stages using systematic untargeted and targeted liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry metabolomics analysis and ident… Show more

“…In addition, R. chingii can also be used in medicine, and it is the only species of Chinese raspberry listed in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia [3]. Its medicinal part is its immature dry fruit, which contains a large number of flavonoids, terpenoids, polysaccharides, and other substances, especially flavonoids [4,5], which can play a strong role in anti-oxidation, anti-inflammation, anticancer, anti-hypertension and the protection of blood vessels [3,6,7]. Therefore, raspberry is a kind of medicine and a food homologous variety, which has great prospects in research and development.…”

“…Untargeted metabolomics has achieved extensive substance coverage, yielding comprehensive metabolite information, and detecting many previously unknown components. Currently, metabolomics has found applications in various fields, including biomarkers [12][13][14], disease diagnosis [15][16][17], drug safety [18], toxicology research [19], and plant studies [20][21]. Furthermore, Metabolomics also offers the potentiality of detecting, identifying, and quantifying variations in endogenous metabolites reflecting the balance of specific metabolic pathways, and biological changes of the internal microenvironment [22,23].…”
