Insights into Disturbed Hemostasis in the Quebec Platelet Disorder Using Thromboelastography, Blood Clots Formed at Low Shear, and Perfusion Studies of Fibrinolysis.
Abstract:The Quebec Platelet Disorder (QPD) is an inherited disorder associated with delayed bleeding, increased expression and storage of active urokinase-type plasminogen activator (u-PA) in platelets, normal to increased u-PA in plasma, consumption of platelet plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1), and increased plasmin generation in platelets with proteolysis of stored α-granule proteins, including factor V. Although accelerated fibrinolysis has been proposed to contribute to QPD bleeding, the effects of QPD bl… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
