Insight into the Copper-Catalyzed Borylation of Strained Alkenes

Abstract: Esta es la versión de autor del artículo publicado en: This is an author produced version of a paper published in: Abstract: The copper-catalyzed hydro-and carboboration of strain alkenes is presented. The reaction is highly diastereoselective and affords boronic ester derivatives many of which are difficult to synthesize by known methods.Competition experiments with different alkenes show that high levels of chemoselectivity can be achieved. DFT calculations are in agreement with the observed chemoselectivity. Show more

“…They carried out the control experiments and verified by density functional theory (DFT) calculations that the alkyl copper intermediates 2‐F formed during the conversion process undergo protonation to generate the hydroboration products 2 ‐ 3 , and also react with electrophiles other than protons to form the difunctionalization products 2 ‐ 4 . Notably, the competition experiments with different alkenes show that high levels of chemoselectivity can be achieved in the copper‐catalyzed borylation of strained alkenes [14] …”
