“…Lamb waves (Lamb, 1917) were obtained by H. Lamb in England in 1917 when solving the fluctuation equations by the flat plate free boundary condition. Lamb waves have dispersion characteristics and multimodal characteristics (Li et al, 2022). The dispersion characteristic refers to the different propagation speed of the waves with different frequencies.…”

“…where is the transducer operating frequency. It is well known that Equation (2) defines a straight line in the phase velocity vs domain, and the intersections with the different dispersion modes define the selection of the desired mode [33,34].…”

“…In order to accurately measure ZGV waves, following requirements on the actuators/sensors must be satisfied: (1) the actuators/sensors are sufficiently light so that their effects on the wave propagation are negligible; (2) the actuators/sensors are flexible enough to conform with inspected structures; (3) the actuators/ sensors are capable of exciting and sensing elastic waves at frequencies of ZGV modes. Recent advancements in the piezoelectric film sensors and coatings based on PVDF-TrFE, [28][29][30][31][32][33] which can accommodate above requirements, have opened a novel avenue for the in situ measurement of ZGV waves. With specific fabrication and processing technologies, coatings made of PVDF-TrFE polymers can be polarized and demonstrate a piezoelectric effect which enables its service as actuators and sensors.…”
