Inside Cover: Trends in the Catalytic CO Oxidation Activity of Nanoparticles (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 26/2008)

Abstract: Gold at the pinnacle: In their Communication on page 4835 ff., J. Nørskov et al. use density functional calculations to show how gold nanoparticles are more active catalysts for the CO oxidation reaction than other metal nanoparticles. At low temperatures, high catalytic activity is due to the ability of low-coordinated metal atoms to activate reactants.
