Inside Cover: A New Class of Amphiphiles Bearing Rigid Hydrophobic Groups for Solubilization and Stabilization of Membrane Proteins (Chem. Eur. J. 31/2012)
Abstract:A class of structurally new amphiphile based on steroidal lipophilic groups have been prepared by P. S. Chae et al. on The results show that the new amphiphiles confer enhanced stability to a variety of membrane proteins in solution relative to popular conventional detergent dodecylmaltoside (DDM). The potential of the new amphiphiles as tools for solubilization, isolation, and stabilization is evident from their success with a variety of membrane proteins.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
