“…The relevance, albeit with a clearly lower weight (12%), of the groups ranked below the aforementioned is symptomatic of overqualification situations, since being included into these groups does not require a university degree. Overqualification currently tends to be considered as one of the main indicators of (un)successful professional transition, and studies highlight the negative impact in the future for the buildup of professional disqualification situations (FORGEOT; GAUTIÉ, 1997;NAUZE-FICHET;TOMASINI, 2002).…”

“…The small difference with our study probably comes from our sample restrictions and from the fact we use seven waves of the ECHP 7 . Unfortunately, the proportion of overqualified workers can hardly be compared with previous studies and other data: indeed, the empirical evidence on job downgrading remains limited for France, most of the studies having dealt with young graduates on their first job [Forgeot & Gautié (1997) [Guironnet (2006), Guironnet & Peypoch (2007)]. According to Hartog (2000), the incidence of overqualification varies from 10% to 35% in some European countries (Netherlands, Spain, Portugal and the United Kingdom), depending on the measure (normative or statistical).…”
