Insertion problems in geomechanics with the particle finite element method

Abstract: This thesis develops a numerical technique in which the Particle Finite Element method is applied to simulate solid intrusion problems in Geotechnical Engineering. The thesis describes the numerical development work that made the method functional and showcases its potential with various application problems.
