Inorganic Amino-Nitro-Guanidinium Derivatives

Abstract: 1-Amino-3-nitroguanidine (ANQ, 1) was synthesized by hydrazinolysis of nitroguanidine (NQ) with hydrazine hydrate. Four different amino-nitroguanidinium salts (chloride (2), bromide (3), iodide (4) and sulfate (5)) were synthesized and structurally characterized by low-temperature X-ray diffraction. The halides 2-4 could only be obtained crystalline as monohydrates. In addition, they were characterized by NMR and vibrational spectroscopy, elemental analysis and the sensitivities towards impact, friction and el… Show more

Recently we published the structure of neutral ANQ as well as some inorganic salts.…”

“…Most of the crystal water containing complexes can be dehydrated after heating (4,6,11,13,(14)(15)(16)19), indicated by an endothermic peak in the DSC curve, which is well-separated from the exothermic decomposition event. Some of the complexes decompose immediately after they start to lose their crystal water (3,5,9,14), whereas for 8, no endothermic event before decomposition can be observed, although it crystallizes as a dihydrate.…”

“…In addition, the halides as well as the sulfate salt also can be prepared by dissolving ANQ in dilute aqueous solutions of the respective mineral acids HCl, HBr, HI and H 2 SO 4 . However, it cannot react with HF, since the acidic strength of HF in aqueous solution is the weakest among all the hydrogenides, and HF is not able to protonate ANQ in aqueous solution [48]. Especially, the detonation pressure (42.7 GPa) and detonation velocity (9.551 km s −1 ) of ANGN are both superior to those of RDX, which can be considered as a potential candidate for high-energy-density compounds [18].…”

“…11 However, little research was reported on 1-amino-2-nitroguanidine (ANG) which possesses better energetic properties (such as density, detonation velocity, detonation pressure and so on) than guanidine and its derivatives. 12,13 Herein, a nitrogen-rich energetic salt 1-amino-2nitroguanidinium nitrate (ANGN Scheme 1) was synthesized and fully characterized. Its crystal structure, thermal behavior and detonation properties were also investigated to give a better understanding of its physical and chemical properties.…”
