Abstract:This study presents a finite difference model for analyzing ground stability and settlement of twin circular culverts in undrained clay. The model is verified through simulations of soil movement and relaxation around a tunnel-boring machine's shield. Stability numbers and ground settlement are evaluated across various culvert geometries and soil ratios and compared to rigorous solutions and previous models.
