This study examined the effect of the new teaching method applied in the Kazakh literature course on students' cultural identity and sensitivity, patriotic consciousness, and achievement. In this context, the experimental group experienced innovative teaching methods based on the works of Abish Kekilbayev. This quasi-experimental study examined the effects of educational activities on achievement, social consciousness, citizenship, cultural identity, and sensitivity based on the works of Abish Kekilbayev, a leading Kazakhstania writer, among second-year university students. The experimental group underwent the new teaching method, while the control group followed the activities outlined in the current Kazakh literature textbooks. The effectiveness of the method was assessed through post-test applications. The results indicated significant differences in students’ academic achievement, citizenship, social consciousness, cultural identity, and sensitivity between the experimental and control groups, highlighting the substantial impact of the new method. Similar approaches can be applied to students at various educational levels. Additionally, a comprehensive citizenship and identity education program could be developed by closely examining the works of Abish Kekilbayev and other similar authors in detail.

Race, Gender, Class, and Perceived Everyday Discrimination

Everyday discrimination has been studied for the last three decades, but there is a lack of quantitative research on the effects of race, gender, and class, and especially their intersectional effects, on perceived everyday discrimination for the U.S. population as a whole, despite a few studies at the local or group levels. Using new data from the 2018 General Social Survey and multiple regression, this study investigates how race, gender, and class independently and intersectionally shape everyday discrimination experiences in the United States. The results indicate that, holding other variables constant, Blacks self-claimed a significantly higher level of everyday discrimination than Whites, but other races did not differ significantly from Whites in such an experience; class was inversely associated with the level of everyday discrimination, and gender did not have an independent effect. However, while Black men self-reported a higher level of everyday discrimination than White men, Black women self-reported a lower level of everyday discrimination than White women; higher-class Blacks tended to report a significantly higher level of everyday discrimination experiences than lower-class Blacks. The findings have significant implications for research and practice in the area of everyday discrimination.

The preservation of cultural heritage is crucial for maintaining a nation's identity, and in culturally diverse countries, this task is deeply intertwined with governance frameworks and institutional practices. This study investigates the relationship between governance frameworks and cultural preservation in Indonesia, exploring the policies, institutions, and practices influencing cultural heritage preservation. A content analysis approach was employed, examining legislative texts, policy documents, official reports, UNESCO reports, international agreements, and other relevant documents. Detailed case studies of specific cultural heritage sites and creative industry initiatives were also analyzed. The study shows Indonesia has strong cultural preservation laws, yet their application differs regionally. The Ministry of Education and Culture leads but struggles with inter-agency cooperation. Community engagement, as seen in Borobudur's conservation, is pivotal. International collaboration, notably with UNESCO, aids preservation. Economically, promoting Batik and similar industries is promising, but equitable benefit sharing requires attention. This study contributes to the existing literature by providing a comprehensive analysis of cultural governance and preservation. It highlights the complexities and challenges in preserving cultural heritage in a diverse and multiethnic country like Indonesia while offering insights into potential solutions and areas for improvement.
