“…This research continues the streamline of Journal of Knowledge Economy (JKE) by integrating three concepts of internal marketing, entrepreneurial orientation, and innovation in a unique business context, namely, family businesses. Although more attention has been devoted on entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial orientation (see, for example, Kassicieh 2010; Vliamos and Tzeremes 2012;Iddrisu et al 2012;Izzrech et al 2013;Sindakis and Kitsios 2016;Kiani Mavi 2014;Dubina et al 2017) and innovation (Bhattacharya 2011;Panagopoulos 2011;Hewing 2012;Khatib et al 2013;Srholec 2014;Drivas et al 2014;Carayannis et al 2014;Cecere and Ozman 2014;Apanasovich 2016;Marques et al 2016;Ferreira et al 2017;Holtskog 2017) in the knowledgebased economies within previously published papers of JKE, but, few empirical studies have highlighted the importance of internal marketing that conditioned the development of entrepreneurial orientation and innovation in family businesses.
