Innovation Approach to Environment Problems Solution at Coal Producers of the Far Eastern Federal District (FEFD)

Abstract: Abstract-Based on the analysis of the processes of coal deposits development in FEFD, including development and mining operations, coal processing, reproduction of land productivity in technogenic formations (reclamation) and ecosystems rehabilitation, as well as regulatory framework it was concluded that innovation ways of solving environmental problems should be based on the monitoring and management of the environment quality. The innovative approach to environmental problems in the mining industry was set … Show more

“…It was possible because in the last century the former mining enterprises: Solnechniy GOK (mining and processing works) (Khabarovskiy Krai), Hinganskiy GOK (Jewish Autonomous Oblast), Khrustalnenskiy GOK (Primorskiy Krai and others) did not cope with the difficulties of the transitional economic period and became bankrupts. The tailings of these mining and processing works, containing huge amounts of toxic waste were left to own devices [11][12][13][14][15].…”

“…According to the official data on the mining and non-ferrous metallurgy, the amount of tailing dumps is estimated at a level of nearly 140 mln.m3 per year [21]. Being the reason for the increasing rates of land disruption, waste products also become the source of environmental pollution [22][23][24]. Thus, in the case of KMA, the general amount of waste products from the tailing dump exceed 8319 tons/year; the tailing dump of the Solnechny MPP located in Khabarovsk Krai, has been flooded numerous times by incoming water floods when the filter bed of the dam was broken by the waste product flows containing a large amount of heavy metals, which entered the river basin as a result.…”
