“…Sprained ankle is the most common injury in this study, accounting for almost 35% of all injuries. This result was similar to those of several previous studies conducted which also found sprained ankle to be the most common injury in some sports, including football, basketball (Drakos, Domb, Starkey, Callahan, & Allen, 2010), futsal (Varkiani, Alizadeh, & Pourkazemi, 2010;Angoorani, Haratian, Mazaherinezhad, & Younespour, 2014;Serrano, Shahidian, Voser, & Leite, 2013) and volleyball (Sattler, 2011;Massada, Aido, Magalhaes, & Puga, 2011;Pimenta, Junior, Neto, & Lope, 2017). In contrast to previous studies, hand and wrist injury, not sprained ankle, was the most frequent injury in volleyball in a recent study.…”

“…In addition, present results confirm previous evidence in team sport athletes as matches created greater potential for injury than training sessions in professional female futsal players, only with contradictory results in a previous study [9]. With regard to match injury incidence, we found 57.87 per 1000 h (95 % CI: 57.30, 58.44) to be also higher than in Iranian Futsal team [8], female hockey (17.1; 95 % CI: 3.4, 30.7) [17] and female soccer players (12.5 to 23.6) [21], and it was especially higher than in sub-elite futsal teams (66.4; 95 % CI: 6.5, 7.4) [9]. This can be due to different performance levels of leagues in futsal [22].…”

“…In this regard, recent epidemiologic reports placed futsal as one of the highest injury risk sports [5,6]. In our study, 5.02 injuries/1000 h of exposure time were reported, which is slightly greater than the overall incidence of 4.17 reported in Iranian Female Futsal Team [8] and lower than in sub-elite female futsal Spanish team with 6.7 injuries/1000 h [9]; it is similar to other team sports athletes like female indoor hockey (5.00; 95 % CI: 4.1, 4.9) [17]. In addition, present results confirm previous evidence in team sport athletes as matches created greater potential for injury than training sessions in professional female futsal players, only with contradictory results in a previous study [9].…”
