Initial stages of decomposition in Cu–9Ni–6Sn

Abstract: The early stages of the decomposition process in the ternary Cu‐9 wt.% Ni‐6 wt.% Sn alloy have been studied by transmission electron microscopy. The supersaturated solid solution was found to decompose through the spinodal mechanism into periodic and aligned regions which are Sn‐rich and Sn‐lean. “…El aumento de la dureza experimentado durante el calentamiento de la muestra templada podría atribuirse a la formación de precipitados dispersos en la matriz de cobre. Los estudios estructurales previamente realizados en la bibliografía [4,7,8,[11][12][13] sobre aleaciones de composición análoga a la estudiada en este trabajo apoyan esta interpretación, dado que se ha reportado la formación de fases del tipo (Cu x Ni 1-x ) 3 Sn en muestras recocidas en el rango de temperaturas en que se observan los picos exotérmicos en la figura 2.
