Inhibitory efficacy of RNA virus drugs against SARS-CoV-2 proteins: An extensive study

Abstract: Herein we have made a comprehensive analysis of inhibitory efficacy of 16 RNA virus drugs against RdRp, Mpro and PLpro proteins of SARS-CoV-2. Analysis of docked conformation revealed that Baloxavir marboxil (BMX) corresponds to the highest binding energy. Analysis of residue confirmed that BMX strongly interact with these three proteins involving H-bonding, ionic as well as hydrophobic interactions. Molecular dynamics simulation and analysis of parameters like RMSD, RMSF, binding energy confirmed noticeable c… Show more

“…Till now, it is not clear that whether these COVID-19 vaccines can protect against the infection from these new SARS-CoV-2 variants or not (Fontanet et al 2021;Mascola et al 2021). Recently, name of the few drugs e.g., Remdesivir, Hydroxychloroquine, Chloroquine are the topic of discussion to researchers but none of these are potentially efficient against this deadly virus (Baildya et al 2020(Baildya et al , 2021aElfiky 2020;Khan et al 2021;Mandal et al 2021).…”

“…Recently a number of drugs are reported viz. Remdesivir [ 7 , 10 ], Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) [11] , Chloroquine (CQ) [13] , and natural products of different pant resources [14] , [15] , [16] , [17] , [18] and other RNA virus drugs [19] but none of these are particularly effective for this virus. Hydroxychloroquine in combination with azithromycine was also applied for the treatment of COVID-19 [20] .…”

“…Though there are a few myths regarding the medicine of COVID-19 (mixture of different kinds of herbals) but it is not approved by the FDA [25,26]. Since January 2020, at least 37 bio-pharmaceutical companies worldwide are involved for the development of the drug and protective vaccine with multiple platforms including adenoviral vector, mRNA, recombinant protein and DNA [27].Researchers are also trying to use some natural compounds against this virus [28][29][30]. Some drugs which are under investigation viz.…”
