Inhibitory effects of (−)-loliolide on cellular senescence in human dermal fibroblasts

Abstract: Cellular senescence influences tumor suppression and progress, tissue repair and regeneration, tissue and organismal aging, and age-related diseases. Aging intervention might be an advantageous target for prevention and treatment of diverse age-related diseases. In this study, we investigated whether (-)-loliolide purified from the crude extract of Polygonum aviculare exerted inhibitory activity against cellular senescence in human dermal fibroblasts (HDFs). (-)-Loliolide diminished senescence-associated β-gal… Show more

“…In addition, we analyzed the nineteen different types of phytochemical components including of loliolide in the G. affine chloroform-soluble fraction having an anti-inflammatory action by GC-MS. Coniferyl alcohol is known as mediators of eugenol and isoeugenol biosynthesis [43], and loliolide is as having an inhibitory effect on cellular senescence in human dermal fibroblast [44]. In addition, the COX-2 inhibitory activity of vanillin and guaiacol is known [45].…”

“…Natural compounds derived from plants, including juglanin (59), quercetin-3- O -β-D-glucuronide (60), (−)-loliolide (61), and quercetagetin 3,4′-dimethyl ether (62) were identified as senomorphic candiates, when they decreased SAβG and p53 levels in senescent HDFs and HUVECs.…”
