Inhibitory Effects of Carbazomycin B Produced by Streptomyces roseoverticillatus 63 Against Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae

Abstract: The present manuscript highlights the potential role of Streptomyces roseoverticillatus 63 (Sr-63) against Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo), which is the cause of a disastrous bacterial leaf blight disease with rice worldwide. The disease suppression was achieved under greenhouse conditions. A foliar spray of the fermentation broth of Sr-63 significantly reduced the leaf blight symptoms with rice in Xoo inoculated rice plants. Furthermore, we observed that the carbazomycin B, isolated from the fermentation … Show more

“…S. nematodiphila GCSR38 secondary metabolite extracts can reduce the disease severity of BLB in vitro and in vivo. This is similar to the findings of Shi et al, 43 who reported the role of Streptomyces roseoverticillatus 63 (Sr-63) against Xoo; disease suppression was accomplished under glasshouse conditions. In addition, carbazomycin B isolated from the fermented broth of strain Sr-63 was found to be active against Xoo, with an MIC of 8 µg/ml.…”

“…It was grown on Gauze’s synthetic broth medium no. 1 ( Shi et al, 2021 ) for activation and then inoculated into DBY medium (glucose 20 g·L −1 , soybean flour 5 g·L −1 , yeast flour 4 g·L −1 , ammonium sulfate 5 g·L −1 , NaCl 1 g·L −1 , and K 2 HPO 4 0.05 g·L −1 ) for lipopeptide production. Magnaporthe oryzae Guy11 was routinely cultured on PDA (B; Virna et al, 2010 ) medium, and oatmeal-tomato juice agar medium (OMTA; Nie et al, 2014 ) was used for spore production.…”
