“…Ito et al [ 10 ] found that forkhead box M1 (FOXM1) serves as a prognostic marker for patients with cAS, and is a candidate drug target. Yamada-Kanazawa et al [ 11 ] highlighted the role of heat shock protein (HSP) 90 in cAS. They used various cAS cell lines to show that HSP90 inhibition suppresses the proliferation, migration, and invasion of cAS cells.…”

“…In addition, HSP90 has been considered to be a potent target for cancer therapy, and various HSP90 inhibitors have been developed as anti-cancer agents since HSP90 stabilizes proteins necessary for progression of cancer cells (20). It has been reported that knock-down of HSP90 suppresses the migration and proliferation of angiosarcoma cells (25). Accumulating evidence indicates that HSP90 is involved also in various physiological cellular functions such as regulation of glucocorticoid receptors (20).…”

“…Patients with angiosarcoma often present with high‐grade histology and multifocal disease, and the prognosis of advanced angiosarcoma is poor, often because of highly developed resistance to standard chemotherapy. New treatment strategies are critically needed to overcome treatment resistance and provide long‐term tumour control of this aggressive disease …”

“…In this issue of the BJD , Yamada‐Kanazawa et al . describe the interesting observation of characteristic heat shock protein 90 (HSP90) overexpression in angiosarcomas, thus opening up inhibition of HSP90 as a new potentially useful approach in the management of patients with angiosarcoma . HSP90 is a critical molecular chaperone regulating various cancer‐related proteins, hence involved in virtually all ‘hallmarks of cancer’ .…”
