Abstract: Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry (MALDI-MS)1 is an established technique for the analysis of biological macromolecules. Its relative insensitivity to pollutants makes MALDI-MS very suitable for the direct analysis of biological samples.
