A method for classification of the tunnel wall rock is established based on the rough set theory and unascertained measurement theory. The saturated uniaxial compressive strength, rock mass integrity index, structural surface condition, seepage measurement of groundwater, and the angle between the hole axis and main structural surface are selected as the evaluation indexes. The problem of weight coefficients for these evaluation indexes is converted into that of significance estimating on the attributes in the rough set theory. The proposed method is verified by the wall rock data of Yuanyanghui tunnel. The results show that the proposed method has an excellent performance in good agreement with the practical situation of wall rock and is feasible to classify the wall rock. Finally, the proposed method is applied to Xihualing tunnel of Zhu-Yong Expressway. The results are basically the same as those from Delphi-ideal point method, set pair analysis method, and the actual situation, which proves that the rough set theory and unascertained measurement theory are effective for classification of the wall rock.

Geological Structural Surface Evaluation Model Based on Unascertained Measure

The surrounding rock structure plane survey is the basis for mine geological structure evaluation and stability of surrounding rock. On the basis of the unascertained measurement theory and scanline method, the surrounding rock stability of the underground geological structure plane in Lingbao Luoshan Gold Mine is evaluated. First, according to the structural plane five grading standards, the 9 single-index measure functions are constructed. Second, the information entropy is used to determine the weight of each indicator. Accordingly, a multi-index comprehensive measure evaluation vector is established. Finally, the confidence level is used to determine the structural plane stability level. Results show that surrounding rock grades of middle sections of R1, R2, and R3 are Grades III, IV, and IV in Lingbao Luoshan Gold Mine, respectively. The evaluation grade is consistent with the actual situation of the mine, and strengthening the surrounding rock support for the middle sections of R2 and R3 is necessary. According to engineering practice, the evaluation model of the underground structure of metal mines established in this study has a practical value.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to obtain risk indicators of water security of drought periods in which the indices of reliability, resiliency, and vulnerability are integrated.Design/methodology/approachIt is not reasonable that weight coefficients of different risk indices are often determined subjectively in conventional procedures, so the entropy weight method is introduced and chosen to solve the problem. Entropy weight method can get the weight coefficients of different risk indices objectively and is valid from the case study.FindingsThe feasibility and validity of entropy weight methods to determine weight coefficients of different risk indices objectively are recognized.Research limitations/implicationsAccessibility and availability of data are the main limitations.Practical implicationsThe paper provides a more objective risk indicator of water security of drought periods for water resources managers.Originality/valueThis paper determines the weight coefficients of different risk indices for risk assessment of water security of drought periods based on hazard entropy. The paper is aimed at water resources managers and relative researchers, especially those who deal with risk assessment of water security of drought periods.
