“…From the outset, many authors feared that technology could have a negative impact on health science libraries and the profession. For instance, in 2000, Rassbash published an article called ‘Will technology kill the healthcare library?’ Anagnostelis (2008) noted that:
‘HILJ/HLR has not escaped the doom‐mongers, foretelling a bleak feature for libraries, as generation followed generation of innovation in technologies and applications. Tabor in 1988 postulated that “undoubtedly there will still be a future for librarians as ‘bookbuyers’ but this is probably a marginal activity to the more central medical informatics activity.” Law in 1994 wondered whether the increase in networked information‐seeking sessions might lead to the ‘marginalization of libraries except as archive stores’.
