Information Systems Simulation for Performance Evaluation - Application in Aircraft Maintenance

Abstract: In the design phase, an effective performance evaluation on the information system model for aircraft maintenance helps better iteratively refine the system design. Although many works have emerged to achieve this aim, complex systems are hard to be completely described and the consideration of real-world processes is missing. Thus, how to investigate the system performance with consideration of the real-world aircraft maintenance is our focus. From our point of view, an agent-based simulation modeling is a pr… Show more

“…Besides, ABMS also allows us to model real-world systems of interests in ways that beyond the capabilities of traditional modelling techniques, such as discrete event system or system dynamics (Siebers et al 2010;Liu et al 2018). As a result, ABMS is chosen to design the autonomous system of aircraft maintenance.…”

“…The popularity of the Agent-Based Simulation System (ABSS) has increased dramatically over the past decade (Macal 2016;Abar et al 2017). The present applications of the ABSS span a wide range of areas: project management (Song et al 2018), logistics and transportation (Serrano-Hernandez et al 2018), emergency evacuation (Joo et al 2013), aircraft maintenance (Liu et al 2018), etc. The basic elements of the ABSS consist of agents, agent relationships, and the agents' environment.…”
