Abstract:The aim of this study is to quantify the impact of information and communication technologies (ICT) and its technological updates on the success of the green supply chain (GSC) implementation, as well as the benefits this affords. This research is applied to the Mexican maquiladora export industry. A model of structural equations is presented to know the importance of the integration of ICT, combined with the implementation of GSC and the generation of benefits with the use of ICT. The results indicate that there is a direct, positive effect (PE) and significant among the four latent variables (LTV) analyzed but the most noteworthy is the indirect effect that the variable updating the ICT has on the benefits of GSC, through the variable mediators' implementation of a GSC, since the direct effect of updating the ICT on the benefits of the implementation of GSC does not become significant. Whereby, it is recommended that the industry integrates and updates its ICT since, using the integrated and updated ICT and the implementation of a GSC, a series of economic, productive and environmental benefits will be created.

Green supply chain integration and financial performance: A social contagion and information sharing perspective

Although green supply chain integration (GSCI) has received wide attention, how it diffuses among supply chain members to affect the manufacturer's performance is still unclear. This study examines the relationships among GSCI, information sharing, and financial performance from a social contagion lens. By conceptualizing GSCI into three forms, two types of contagion mechanisms (i.e., cohesion and structural equivalence) were identified to investigate the underlying contagion effects between different forms of GSCI and the effects of various GSCI on information sharing and financial performance. Survey data were collected from 206 Chinese manufacturers and analyzed using structural equation modeling to test hypotheses. The results indicate that green supplier integration directly promotes green internal integration, green customer integration, and information sharing with suppliers. Green internal integration positively influences green customer integration and financial performance.Green customer integration enhances information sharing with customers. Both information sharing with suppliers and customers improve financial performance. This study contributes to the GSCI literature and provides novel managerial implications for manufacturers.

Supply chain social capitals argued to be the driver for attaining sustainability along the supply chain. However, the role of network complexity and supply chain resilience to transform supply chain social capitals into sustainability remains poorly understood. We draw from social capital theory to argue that supply chain resilience is the mechanism to curb negative effects of network complexity to transform supply chain social capital into supply chain sustainability. Hypotheses were tested employing structural equation modeling technique on a sample (n = 274) of Bangladeshi apparel suppliers, and supplemented by the fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis to identify all plausible underlying causal configurations. Our results suggest that supply chain social capitals positively influence supply chain sustainability both directly and indirectly via supply chain resilience. Contrary to our hypothesis, we found that network complexity in the presence of supply chain resilience positively influences social capitals to bolster supply chain sustainability. Findings of this research imply that supply chain resilience is a crucial conduit that facilitates leveraging supply chain social capitals as well as withstanding challenges that emerge from network complexity to embolden supply chain sustainability. Findings of this research provide novel insights to existing literature by exploring the complex dynamisms and reaffirming the interrelationships among the four vital constructs of supply chain literature. Our finding can help supply chain managers to improve resilience and sustainability.
