Part 1: Cross-Domain Conference and Workshop on Multidisciplinary Research and Practice for Information Systems (CD-ARES 2014): Software SecurityInternational audienceOne future challenge in informatics is the integration of humans in an infrastructure of data-centric IT services. A critical activity of this infrastructure is trustworthy information exchange to reduce threats due to misuse of (personal) information. Privacy by Design as the present methodology for developing privacy-preserving and secure IT systems aims to reduce security vulnerabilities already in the early requirement analysis phase of software development. Incident reports show, however, that not only an implementation of a model bears vulnerabilities but also the gap between rigorous view of threat and security model on the world and real view on a run-time environment with its dependencies. Dependencies threaten reliability of information, and in case of personal information, privacy as well. With the aim of improving security and privacy during run-time, this work proposes to extend Privacy by Design by adapting an IT system not only to inevitable security vulnerabilities but in particular to their users’ view on an information exchange and its IT support with different, eventually opposite security interests

Abstract-Security and privacy are not only general requirements of a society but also indispensable enablers for innovative IT infrastructure applications aiming at increased, sustainable welfare and safety of a society. A critical activity of these IT applications is spontaneous information exchange. This information exchange, however, creates inevitable, unknown dependencies between the participating IT systems, which, in turn threaten security and privacy. With the current approach to IT security, security and privacy follow changes and incidents rather than anticipating them. By sticking to a given threat model, the current approach fails to consider vulnerabilities which arise during a spontaneous information exchange. With the goal of improving security and privacy, this work proposes adapting an IT security model and its enforcement to current and most probable incidents before they result in an unacceptable risk for the participating parties or failure of IT applications. Usage control is the suitable security policy model, since it allows changes during run-time without conceptually raising additional incidents.

The 7th Mediterranean Conference on Information Systems (MCIS2012), with the theme "Adopting Emergent Knowledge and Technologies to Develop Innovative Information Systems (CloudWisdom)" aimed to inspire innovative and informative information systems (IS) researches in order to promote smart, sustainable and inclusive growth in the Mediterranean region. In this aspect, to raise the visibility of IS researches and incorporate learning policy and practice, MCIS 2012 was a distinctive platform of information interchange and knowledge acquisition.With the evolution of technologies, innovative IS are capable of supporting a vast clientele, thus customers, suppliers, or other agencies through the creation of new solutions and innovations. These systems can also provide day-to-day customer transaction processing with appropriate reporting. Furthermore, incorporating new information architecture, along with evolving strategies on the free flow of IS, can generate reports based on real-time data. Apart from this, innovative IS allows for faster and accurate strategic decisions, enables improved portfolio performance analysis, and also facilitates customer retention analysis. However, given the number of various technologies in the system architecture, configuring an innovative IS remains a major challenge for researchers and practitioners.With this in mind, the MCIS 2012 topics comprised theories, research, and practices based on knowledge management and innovation in organizations and society, innovative business models, collaboration and adequate negotiations within IS, evaluating risk and risk management, and utilizing intelligent tools to process huge amounts of information through the involvement of crowd wisdom and crowd creation, proposed as CloudWisdom.Papers in this volume have been divided into five sections, with the following themes: Theme 1: Emerging and Innovative Information Systems Theme 2: Enterprise Systems and Enterprise Engineering Theme 3: Web 2.0 Enabled Business Models Theme 4: Information Quality Management and Data Accuracy in Innovative IS Theme 5: ICT Applications: The Healthcare Sector VI MCIS 2012We expect that the topics presented will assist to foster ground-breaking IS research to improve the quality of life in the Mediterranean region through endorsing the distributed intelligence of the Mediterranean population at large and promoting the value of knowledge they produce and preserve.
