Abstract:Beta-titanium alloys for use as biomaterials are very interesting from the perspective of obtaining a reduction of the elastic modulus, which together with good mechanical properties, avoid the problems of stress shielding that, induce bone reabsorption. The obtaining process of these alloys is complex because the refractory elements that are normally used to stabilize the beta phase (Nb, Ta, Mo). Powder metallurgy is a relatively simple technology that allows the design of custom alloys, presenting ease in al… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
