Abstract: The rate of solvent evaporation and its retention into HEMA/solvent primers was influenced by the type of the solvent and condition allowed for their evaporation.

“…However, a high concentration of HEMA in self-etch adhesives may compromise the mechanical properties of the cured adhesive. HEMA also lowers the vapor pressure of solvents; therefore, large amounts may hinder good solvent evaporation from adhesive solutions (82). There is an optimum concentration of HEMA that improves the bonding efficacy of self-etch adhesives.…”

“…Plakları kaplamada kullandı-ğımız HEMA monomerinin test ettiğimiz gram negatif bakterilerin biyofilm oluşumunu %88.8 oranında inhibe ettiği saptanmıştır. HEMA biyokimyasal ve mekanik karakteristiğinden ötürü özellikle diş hekimliğinde, dental restoratif materyaller içerisinde kullanılan ana komponentlerden biridir (29) . HEMA monomerinin streptokok türlerinde biyofilm oluşumu üzerine etkisini inceleyen bir çalışmada, biyofilm oluşumu-na direk etkisi bulunamamış, fakat artan kon-santrasyonların planktonik hücre miktarının düşürerek biyofilm formasyonunu indirek olarak azalttığı gözlemlenmiştir (30) .…”

“…The solvent evaporation before the photoactivation of an adhesive system is regarded as being of paramount importance to increase the effectiveness of the bonding procedure 6,9 . The adhesive system is placed and exposed while it is in a liquid state and is relatively low in viscosity.…”

“…For a durable, long-term sealing of dentin, monomers must be converted to stable high-molecular-weight polymers 20 . The residual water or organic solvents is claimed to be responsible for producing localized areas of incomplete monomer polymerization 6,7,9 . Thus, the monomer conversion and the extent of polymerization might vary throughout the hybrid layer, which could cause significant differences in the quality of the interpenetrating network at different locations 13 .…”
