Influence of Various Magnetic Pole on Electromagnetic Performance of Consequent-Pole Permanent Magnet Machine

Abstract: Permanent magnet (PM) machine with consequent pole (CP) rotor can improve the PM utilization ratio. However, one group PMs with the same polarity is replaced by iron core which deteriorating the electromagnetic performance of the machine, including even-order back-EMF harmonics, torque ripple, as well as unipolar leakage flux. Therefore, CP PM machine with various magnetic pole, i.e., equal pole-arc magnetic pole (EMP) and asymmetric magnetic pole (AMP) structure is proposed, with smaller torque ripple can be … Show more

“…From the stator side, design and optimization methods are carried out on different parts, e.g., slot-opening width, auxiliary tooth, dummy slot, tooth width, and skewing [5]- [9]. Similarly, it is also proved to be effective in rotor optimization, e.g., pole shaping, pole arc width, auxiliary salient poles, and rotor skewing [9]- [18]. Among the foregoing techniques, skewing, including both the stator and the magnet poles, occurs to be more popular.…”

“…Figure 15 shows the second two-segment method. The modular distance satisfies S 1 = (2m 1 ± 1)τ, and the end force f is a symmetrical waveform with a period of τ, which can be expressed as a piecewise Equation (10). The displacement can be divided into two intervals in each cycle.…”

“…However, despite of mechanical constraints, effects of cogging torque and torque ripples are dominant which resulted pulsating instantaneous torque. Cogging torque and torque ripples are suppressed in [15] using various magnetic pole however in this technique, average torque reduced. Author [16] introduced spoke type rotor CP machine to maintain average torque but unfortunately core loss Furthermore, electromagnetic performances are degraded resulting reduction in torque and power densities [17].…”
