“…PCDDs/Fs formation depends on O 2 level [17], and O 2 is an essential parameter controlling the de novo synthesis of PCDDs/Fs [7,18]. PCDDs/Fs formation increases with O 2 concentration between 0% and 10% [19], and a maximum formation was found at O 2 ≥ 5% [18].…”

“…A previous study reported the effect of oxygen on the formation of PCDD/F, including three aspects [ 28 ]: (1) promoting the formation of C-Cl bonds; (2) promoting the carbon-oxygen complexes by reducing the activation energy; (3) providing highly active chlorine in the Deacon reaction. In addition, the higher oxygen level was conducive to PCDD/F formation in laboratory-scale and full-scale incinerators [ 29 , 30 ]. As for temperature and pressure, the reaction rate and activation energy are decided by the two parameters if the reaction is fixed based on the Arrhenius equation.…”

“…Descriptions of the typical full-scale FBI and GFI in operation in China can be seen elsewhere (Yan et al, 2006;Zhang et al, 2008). The existing GFI plants are fairly similar in system configuration; there are only differences in some details such as incineration capacity, structure of grate bar and furnace, flue gas scrubbing facilities and disposal of leachate from the bunker.…”
