Influence of Trinexapac-Ethyl on Respiration of Isolated Wheat Mitochondria

Abstract: 69.8 W m Ϫ2 (10 Ϫ5 kcal cm Ϫ2 leaf min Ϫ1 ). Other PGRs have also been shown to inhibit respiration. 2,4-D inhib-The plant growth regulators (PGRs) 2,4-D [(2,4-dichlorophenoxy) ited respiration of oat (Avena sativa L.) coleoptiles and acetic acid] and malic hydrazide (1,2-dyhydro-3,6-pyridazinedione) have been shown to reduce plant respiration. The effect of other PGRs pea (Pisum sativum L.) stems at concentrations Ͼ450 such as trinexapac-ethyl [(4-cyclopropyl-␣-hydroxy-methylene)-3,5-M (Kelly and Avery, 1949)… Show more

“…On the other hand, reduced in yield with increasing rates is the result of smallest photosynthetic area and lower stored reserves for translocation at grain filling time, as the plants showed lower dry mass. In addition, Heckman et al (2002) reported effects of trinexapac-ethyl on the respiration of wheat plants, affecting metabolism. Quadratic responses for grain yield were also found for the cultivars OR-1, CD-104, CD-105, Alcover, Onyx, Vanguarda, Supera, CEP-24 with the rates 0, 31.2, 62.4, 93.7, 125, 156.2 g ha -1 of trinexapac-ethyl (Zagonel & Fernandes, 2007).…”

“…O trinexapacethyl é um redutor de crescimento utilizado em cere ais de in ve rn o que promov e re dução acentuada do comprimento do caule (Fagerness & Penn er, 1998) e, cons eqüente mente, da alt ura da pla nta , evi tan do o aca mament o (Amrein et al, 1989). O trinexapac-ethyl atua nas plantas, reduzindo a elongação celular no estádio vegetativo e obstruindo a biossíntese do ácido giberélico (Heckman et al, 2002).…”

“…Qian and Engelke (1999) reported that photosynthesis rates of zoysiagrass (Zoysia matrella L.) increased in response to TE treatments. TE has been shown to reduce respiration in plants (Heckman et al, 2002). Shoot growth suppression triggered by TE encouraged photosynthate and nutrient allocation to other sink tissues such as stems and roots (Cooper et al, 1988;Fagerness et al, 2004).…”
