“…Finally, the statistical analysis would be able to improve the interpreting of the results (Lemos et al, 2016;Minatel et al, 2017;Pellizzer et al, 2018), showing quantitative analysis but, in the present study, the maps of stress and strain were very clear avoiding the bias in the interpretation. Thus, the statistical analysis was not applied as previous studies in FEA de Souza Batista et al, 2017 (2); Lazari et al, 2014;Toniollo et al, 2017;Lemos et al, 2018).…”

“…The dimensions of the prosthetic crown were simulated by a reduction of 1mm of thickness in the vestibular and palatal surfaces and 2.0mm in the incisal surface. In addition, the cement layer was simulated with 0.09 mm of average thickness, simulating resinous type (Lazari et al 2014).…”

“…All-ceramic systems are widely used to achieve excellent esthetic restorations. Especially for zirconia and alumina restorations, they need to be covered by feldspathic ceramic to decrease the opacity of the framework [24] .If the core/ceramic veneer interface exhibits an incomplete bond, chipping or fracture is expected to initiate in the veneer margins [25] . The literature reports that the interface between the ceramic veneer and the framework affects the mechanical performance of the ceramic veneer [24] , showing the importance of this interface in the integrity of the restorations.…”

“…The element size was set at 0.2 mm, while the number of elements for the different structures ranged between 1951 and 193,232 (Table ). The final 3D FE model consisted of 322,865 tetrahedral elements in total, considerably higher than previous studies reporting on similar subjects . As cement layer has a thickness of 25 to 30 µm the optimal element size for that structure was determined to be 0.007 mm, thus creating a problematic interface with the veneer and the tooth structures due to the big difference in element size.…”
