Influence of the Insecticide ?-cyhalothrin on Oxidative Stress and Expression of Replicative Protein A in the Brain of Fish

Abstract: Anthropogenic pollution of natural waters by pesticides became a global problem with the beginning of their widespread use in the 1960s of the twentieth century. The most studied cells’ response to the pesticides is an increase in the content of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and, as a consequence, the development of oxidative stress. The proliferative activity of cells is regulated by various factors and largely depends on the expression of proteins involved in the DNA replication. Among such proteins are repl… Show more

“…The damaging of signaling pathways between the neural system and other organs can cause a lack of cell viability as well as the disruption of vital functions. The searching for tissue-specific molecular biomarkers, which are potent to reflect the cellular damages and a decline in vital functions, could be a fruitful tool of pesticide pollution effects estimation [34][35][36][37]. Several neuron-specific proteins are considered as prospective candidates to use for the disruption of the molecular mechanisms in different species [32,38,39].…”

“…The study of these phenomena may allow the identification of markers of neurotoxicity that adequately reflect critical disorders, as well as metabolic pathways that are targets for the cytotoxic compounds in a polluted environment (Manzo et al, 2001). It is known that the use of these biomarkers is possible under conditions of exposure to low concentrations of pesticides (Nedzvetsky et al, 2020;Gasso et al, 2021). Such biomarkers can be indicators of the levels of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), neurofilament light chain (NfL) and angiostatin (Abou-Donia et al, 2016;Sindi et al, 2016;Gasso et al, 2020).…”

“…Pyrethroid and neonicotinoid insecticides are widely used worldwide as plant protection agents (Banaei et al, 2017). These substances have low toxicity to birds and mammals, but are highly toxic to aquatic organisms (Xu et al, 2018;Gasso et al, 2020;Nedzvetsky et al, 2020;Yermolenko et al, 2022). Due to the penetration of pyrethroids and neonicotinoids into the organism of fish embryos, larvae, and fry, biological changes may occur, which subsequently cause death and developmental abnormalities.…”
