Influence of the drawing ratio and the relative index difference on propagation characteristics in single‐mode fibers with arbitrary refractive index profile

Abstract

Simple formulas are derived for the sensitivity of dispersion, mode field radii, and cutoff wavelengths in single‐mode fibers due to arbitrary variations of the drawing ratio and the relative index difference simultaneously. For calculations only the propagation characteristic spectrum of the ideal fiber is required. Some applications are given.
