Abstract:The sheet metal bearing cages quality obtained through punching is influenced by a variety of factors related to the punching mechanism construction, to its adjustment onto the press and also to the technological parameters of the punching process itself. This paper refers to an experimental research study applied to a real industrial environment, which analyzes the sheet metal bearing cages obtained through punching. The paper informs about the main results which were obtained during researches regarding the … Show more
“…Modern CAM software solutions allow multiple sequences of different projects thus making it possible for a project to be let's say processed as other is being programmed [6]. On the other hand a management window allows multiple machining strategies to be part of the same job listed according to the programmer needs.…”
There is an entire array of options when you are planning a CAM machining strategy. Knowing your equipment possibilities and adjusting your software options to them has become mandatory in terms of cost and time efficiency. This paper aims to present the main options for most common software solutions used today in modern mechanical engineering which can be applied to the existing hardware manufacturing equipment found in enterprises or educational centers.

“…2. The systemic structure of the stamping process of sheet metal cage windows from RRORB2R [5] 184 Engineering Solutions and Technologies in Manufacturing -The blank zone (zSMF) -represents the area from within the part's surface that has not yet undergone through the stamping procedure of the cage windows. The parameters that are correspondent to this area are describing the product ment for machining, being input parameters as follows: o parameters that are characteristic to dimensional and form related precision of the blank; o the cage's material thickness; o initial roughness of the cage surface (it is being appreciated by means of the roughness parameter R a ).…”

“…This case study presents steel window-type cages for spherical roller bearings with two rows of symmetrical rollers (RRORB2R) which are passed through four cold forming technological operations: sheet metal cutting in strips, steel cage's primarily shape obtained by means of one blanking-drawing operation, punching the cage's bottom and then calibrate it as part of the same operation followed by simultaneous punching and calibration of cage windows, [5].…”
The quality of bearing cages is influenced by a variety of technological factors which depend on the material they are manufactured of, on the hydraulic press and on the punching-stamping die. The paper presents an optimized methodology introduced and developed for process quality analysis and monitoring activities involved in the stamping technology in order to manufacture roller bearing steel cages. The stamping technology presented in this case study is part of a larger industrial process of manufacturing steel window-type cages for spherical roller bearings with two rows of symmetrical rollers. This approach aims to improve a similar process quality analysis and monitoring activities which were previously developed on the basis of cause & effect analyses made upon the influence of qualitative and quantitative parameters involved in a quality and accurate stamping process.
