M ORPHOLOGICAL characteristics of most of the species included in the Heterakidae family are similar. The study of the ultrastructure of helminths makes it possible to determine additional taxonomic features in the identification of species. In the present study, the ultrastructural characteristics of the organs belonging to the reproductive system of adult female nematode Heterakis dispar (Schrank, 1790), belonging to the Heterakidae family, with using of light and electron microscopic methods were studied. It was found that the wall of ovary, oviduct and uterus consists of two (basal lamina and epithelial), vagina has three (basal lamina, muscular and epithelial), and the wall of the ovijector consists of four layers (basal lamina, muscular and epithelial, thick cuticle in the lumen). The ultrastructural characteristics of helminth germ cells and their development (oogenesis) in different stages (oogonia, oocytes) were studied in detail. The layers of the formed eggshell of H. dispar nematode (uterine, vitelline, chitinous and lipid layers) were determined. In the study, a comparative analysis of the ultrastructure of reproductive organs of female H. dispar with nematodes H. gallinarum and H. spumosa, which belong to the Heterakidae family was given. It is appropriate to use the obtained results in specifying the systematic positions of nematodes. In the future, ultrastructural data can be used as a norm during the development of methods of combating nematodosis.

HE NEMATODES of the genus Heterakis are similar in appearance and a number of morphological characteristics. Therefore, determination of nematodes creates certain difficulties. H. gallinarum helminth is one of the widespread species of the genus. In the current study, the body wall of the parasite of the H. gallinarum nematode was studied at the ultrastructural level with the help of light and electron microscopic methods, and the obtained results were compared with the structures of the covering tissue of other species of the family. It was found that the bady wall of the nematode consists of 3 layers. The cuticle of the helminth is made up of 8 layers. In both individuals of the helminth, the lateral alae consist of 3 main layers. Homogeneous and fibrillar layers are many times thicker than other parts of the helminth's body. While the shape of the cuticle of both male and female H. gallinarum nematode is smooth throughout the body, 2 different shapes have been found around the bulb. This sign is not mentioned in other species of the family. Tubular structures were found between the basal part of the cuticle and the hypodermis of the studied helminth. The nervous system of the parasite is orthogonal, and the muscular type is polymyar. The number of muscle cells in between two ridges of the helminth varies from 19 to 28, depending on the sex of the worm and the part of the body of the helminth.

Species of the Heterakidae family are similar in appearance. These signs cause difficulties in determining the systematic position of the species. For this purpose, the digestive organs of adult H. gallinarum nematode were studied at the ultrastructural levels by light and electron microscopic methods. The obtained results were compared with the structures of other species of the family. The digestive organs of adult H. gallinarum nematode are divided into 3 parts - stomodeum, intestine and proctodeum. The esophagus in turn is divided into procorpus, metacorpus and bulb. Its wall consists of basement membrane, muscle cells and cuticle. In the bulb, the muscle cells are large and relatively large in number. The intestine is divided into ventricular, middle and prerectal areas. It consists of a thick basement membrane, a single-layered epithelium with microvillas. Epithelial cells are divided into 5 areas that differ from each other according to their structure. The smooth membranes of the epithelial cells create a barrier connection with each other. Sphincter cells are noted at the end of the intestine. After that part, the rectum was found in females and the cloaca in males nematodes. The lumen of both is covered with cuticle. The ultrastructural features of the digestive organs of the nematode H. gallinarum are consistent with the main systematic features of the family.
