Influence of surfactant on conductivity, capacitance and doping of electrodeposited polyaniline films

Aihemaiti Kayishaer,
Claire Magnenet,
Ileana-Alexandra Pavel
et al.

Abstract: The electrodeposition of polyaniline films is usually carried out in acid solutions such as hydrochloric acid, perchloric acid or sulfuric acid, and more rarely in organic acids such as camphorsulfonic acid (CSA). In this study, the impact of the presence of a surfactant in the electrolytic solution based on hydrochloric acid or CSA was evaluated by successively using anionic (sodium dodecyl sulfate, SDS), cationic (cetyltrimethylammonium bromide, CTAB), and non-ionic (Tritonx100) surfactants. Whatever the sur… Show more

“…The resulting polymer films are denoted PANI/H 2 SO 4 + CTAB and PANI/H 2 SO 4 + Tritonx100. In addition, a previous study showed that the presence of surfactants in the electrolyte does not prevent the electropolymerization of aniline in sulfuric acid solutions, but that it can modify the physicochemical properties of the film (conductivity, morphology, and thickness), which could modulate the detection properties of polyaniline films [37].…”
