Influence of Stabilizer Concentration on Transport Behavior and Thermopower of CNT‐Filled Latex‐Based Composites

Abstract: The influence of the stabilizer/SWNT ratio on the transport behavior of latex‐based polymer nanocomposites is examined in an effort to improve electrical conductivity while maintaining or improving the Seebeck coefficient (i.e., thermopower). Results show that phonon and electron transport are significantly affected by tube/tube junctions, and the carrier transport across the junctions can be manipulated by altering the stabilizer concentration. Electrical conductivity of composites containing 10 wt.‐% SWNT ne… Show more

“…A lot of work has been done to solve this problem, e.g. synthesizing composites is a good approach and can combine the advantages of each component [20,[23][24][25][26][27]. In this work, the poly[A x (M-ett)] composite with the best performance was obtained via ball-milling [28][29][30][31][32][33] with poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) solution.…”

“…could be a competent contender for making futuristic of light weight low-cost polymer composite for thermoelectric applications. Moreover, Kim et al [71] have depicted the influence of stabilizer/SWCNT on transport properties in the PVAc latex based polymer composite. In this composite, electron transport is also affected by the modification of tube-tube junction.…”

“…This is rarely the case in reality as seen from scanning electron micrographs of composites [1][2][3]7]. A 3-D Monte Carlo model with the effect of fiber waviness on the percolation threshold was developed by Yi et al [23].…”

“…Polymer composites filled with nanomaterials in a segregated fashion (called segregated-network nanocomposites) have been recently reported as promising materials for thermoelectric energy conversion [1][2][3]. When nanomaterials such as carbon nanotubes (CNTs) make electrically conducting networks, desirable electrical properties can be obtained.…”
