Influence of social environment on caries prevalence in early childhood

Abstract

The higher prevalence and more severe ECC were found in the third and the next born male child from rural environment.

Međutim, potrebno je sprovesti dodatna ispitivanja i utvrditi da li je polna razlika u rasprostranjenosti posledica bolje higijene kod devojčica ili kulturološki uslovljenog načina ishrane kod dečaka.…”

Measuring Potential of Preschool Facility Staff to Prevent Early Childhood Caries

“…In modern society, with children spending more than half a day in preschool institutions and consuming at least two meals there, not only is this responsibility of parents and family members, but teachers as well. The analysis of early childhood caries occurrence inside and outside preschool institutions has indicated a twice-lower prevalence of caries among children in kindergartens, regardless of the proven higher risk of spreading mutans streptococci from one child to another within a group (11). The investigations conducted in kindergartens pointing to the effect of frequent consumption of sweets between meals on the increase in ECC and its restriction, supervised tooth brushing and professional fluoride application while children are in kindergartens have proved to be significant measures in the prevention of this disease (12)(13)(14)(15)(16).…”

The presence of a dentist's office in educational institutions has a positive impact on children's oral health condition but the role of preschool facilities staff is also very important.…”
