“…The environment has both direct and indirect impact; directly through change in macro and micro climatic factors (Barth and Waldner, 2002) like temperature, humidity, rainfall and photo-period, whereas indirectly by affecting the vegetation, forage quality and soil-plant-animal interaction. “…Os animais de origem indiana são conhecidos por se adaptarem melhor às condições tropicais, sendo mais resistentes ao stress térmico quando comparado aos de origem europeia nestas mesmas condições (OHASHI et al, 1998;HANSEN, 2004), pois os zebuínos diferem quanto às características anatômicas e de termorregulação testicular; nesses animais, o escroto e a subtúnica testicular facilitam o gradiente de temperatura (troca positiva), em contraste com touros europeus, cujo gradiente é negativo. Além disso, a espessura da artéria testicular é significativamente inferior em diferentes regiões do parênquima testicular, em relação aos touros europeus, facilitando a troca ou perda de calor gerado pelo aumento do fluxo sangüíneo e metabolismo celular (BRITO et al, 2004), outra característica importante, é que possuem menor conformação, maior relação superfície de pele e tamanho corporal, mais glândulas sudoríparas e menor termogênese (TURNER, 1980 Em geral, quando se compara a qualidade seminal de touros de origem europeia e indiana, fica claro que os primeiros são os que mais sofrem com o estresse térmico (MEYERHOEFFER et al, 1985, NICHI et al, 2006, porém, é importante ressaltar que até mesmo os touros zebus demonstraram alterações seminais devido a variabilidade sazonal (REKWOT et al, 1987).…”
