Influence of Rust Removal Process on The Effectiveness of Sacrificial Anode Cathodic Protection in Repair Concrete

Abstract: The accumulation of corrosion product on the steel surface may cause eventual failure to deliver of ionic current protection from sacrificial anode cathodic protection. The effect of cleaning of deteriorated steel bar before cathodic protection application is studied in this paper. Two specimens having a length of 580 mm and 150x100 mm of the cross-sectional area with deteriorated reinforcing bar and half-part of chloride contaminated concrete were fabricated to simulate the repair process. Two corroded reinfo… Show more

“…The results of compressive strength test on seawater-mixed and tap water-mixed mortar by using dried mortar waste as fine aggregate replacement were presented in Figure 8 and 9, respectively. The objective of understanding the compressive strength value of mortar is to choose which parent concrete or substrate that suitable to use the mortar as the patching material, due to the patching material requirement being equal to the original concrete quality [42,49,50,51,52].…”

“…Hal ini mendukung tujuan penelitian ini agar dilakukan analisis untuk memprediksi perilaku struktur balok beton akibat korosi. Adapun metode perbaikan juga telah dilakukan menggunakan beberapa penelitian untuk mengkaji metode seperti mengaplikasikan proteksi katodik anoda korban dan inhibitor korosi, dan patch repair yang telah diaplikasikan pada specimen yang sama (Astuti et al, 2019) (Astuti et al, 2020).…”

“…It was once feared that the use of seawater as a mixing water would reduce the durability and resistance of concrete due to chloride induced corrosion. So, several treatments on the steel bar embedded in sea water mixed mortar or concrete was required [10][11][12][13][14][15][16]. To prevent corrosion, several efforts have been made, one of which is to provide a protective coating for both the reinforcement and the concrete surface [9,17].…”
