Influence of PVP on the Morphologies of Bi2S3 Nanostructures Synthesized by Solvothermal Method

Abstract: Different morphologies of Bi2S3nanostructures were synthesized by a180°C and 12 h solvothermal reaction of solutions containing Bi(NO3)3·5H2O and thioacetamide (CH3CSNH2) in diethylene glycol (DEG) as a solvent. The as-synthesized Bi2S3products characterized by XRD, Raman spectroscopy, SEM, and TEM showed that they were well-crystallized orthorhombic Bi2S3phase with morphologies of nanorod-like, sheaf-like, carnation-like, and microspherical, controlled by different contents of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) in th… Show more

“…In the last years, inorganic materials have been widely studied due to their attractive characteristics, such as capacity to modify its microstructure, morphology, and other physical properties as a function of the method and conditions of synthesis [1][2][3]. Novelty synthesis methods have been developed for preparing inorganic materials, such as aerosol, sol-gel, solution, coprecipitation, solution-polymerization, colloidal method, and solid-state reaction (ceramic method), among others [4][5][6][7][8][9][10].…”

“…The preferential absorption of PVP on the (010) plane of Bi 2 S 3 occurs in the growth process leading to the urchin-like morphology of Bi 2 S 3 @PVP. [33] By contrast, without the addition of PVP, broken and irregular micro-sized Bi 2 S 3 was formed (Figure S5, Supporting Information). X-ray diffraction (XRD) was conducted to confirm the phase information of these two precursors (Figure S6, Supporting Information), diffraction peaks are well indexed to the standard pattern of orthorhombic Bi 2 S 3 (JCPDS No.…”

“…Besides, the signal observed ≈966 cm −1 originates from Bi 2 S 3 . [33,34] After thermal reduction, one peak at 308 cm −1 appears for FBi@NC and Bi MPs, specified as the Bi─O bond. In the case of FBi@NC, two additional broad peaks centered at 1350 and 1580 cm −1 , assigned to the D and G bands of carbon, were detected.…”
