Influence of Paclitaxel and Doxorubicin Therapy of ßIII-Tubulin, Carbonic Anhydrase IX, and Survivin in Chemically Induced Breast Cancer in Female Rat

Abstract: Breast cancer is the most common cancer in females. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of paclitaxel (PTX) and doxorubicin (DOX) therapy on the βIII-tubulin, carbonic anhydrase IX (CA IX), and survivin expression in chemically-induced rat mammary tumors. Animals with induced mammary carcinogenesis were randomly divided into treatment groups and an untreated group. The total proportion of tumors, the proportion of carcinoma in situ (CIS), and invasive carcinoma (IC) were evaluated. Protein expres… Show more

“… [44] To examine the cavitand's toxicity on mammals, we turned to working with Wistar albino rats (Figure 8). [45] Thus, a single dose of 1 was, orally ( O ) and intraperitoneally ( IP ), administered into rats. Over the course of fourteen days, we detected no statistically significant changes of the body weight with respect to control (Figure 8A).…”

“…Kamath et al reported that β3-tubulin reduces the ability of taxane to suppress microtubule dynamics in cells in the presence of paclitaxel [33]. Furthermore, high levels of β3-tubulin expression are significantly associated with resistance to taxanes in breast cancer [34][35][36][37][38], and treatment with antisense oligonucleotides specific for β3-tubulin can increase paclitaxel efficacy in other cancer cells [33,39]. Some studies have reported that other β-tubulin isotypes (β1-tubulin, β2-tubulin) are also significantly associated with docetaxel resistance in breast cancer [40,41].…”
