Influence of oxygen supply upon vegetative functions during increased intracranial pressure

Abstract: A comparison was made between two series of experimental animals in whom ICP increase was produced and the influence of controlled ventilation upon the course of CVP, BP, I-IR, EEG, ICP, and blood gases was studied. CVP, BP, and HR are not influenced significantly by controlled ventilation. Isoelectric EEG changes, brain stem anoxia, and maximal increase of intracranial pressure occur significantly later in the group of ventilated than in the group of non-ventilated animals.Clinical observations and experiment… Show more
