Influence of N-resonances on hyperon production in the channel ppK+Λp at 2.95, 3.20 and 3.30 GeV/c beam

Abstract: Hyperon production in the threshold region was studied in the reaction pp → K + Λp using the time-of-flight spectrometer COSY-TOF. Exclusive data, covering the full phase-space, were taken at the three different beam momenta of p beam = 2.95, 3.20 and 3.30 GeV/c, corresponding to excess energies of ε = 204, 285 and 316 MeV, respectively. Total cross-sections were deduced for the three beam momenta to be 23.9 ± 0.8 ± 2.0 µb, 28.4 ± 1.3 ± 2.2 µb and 35.0 ± 1.3 ± 3.0 µb. Differential observables including Dalitz … Show more

“…There were also exclusive measurements of the reaction pp ! K þ Ãp by the COSY-TOF Collaboration [15][16][17] and total cross section measurements by the COSY-11 [18] and COSY-ANKE Collaboration [19,20]. The first high-resolution measurement of pp !…”

“…Three issues were mainly investigated thereby: the production of N * resonances and their subsequent decay into K + Λ [2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10], the pΛ final state interaction [7,[11][12][13], and the cusp structure appearing at 2.13 GeV in the pΛ invariant mass distribution [14][15][16]. A fourth aspect was recently added to this list with the investigation of the kaonic nuclear bound state KN N by the DISTO collaboration [17,18].…”
