“…In the present study, the tumor suppressive role of miR-101 in liver cancer was shown, which signi cantly decreased the expression of miR-101 in liver cancer, which is consistent with the study of Xuan Meng et al (2020). According to the previous information and the con rmation of the observed changes in the expression pro le of microRNAs in tumor and non-tumor samples, it is suggested that they can be used as diagnostic or prognostic biomarkers (Fabris, Ceder et al 2016).…”

“…While other genes are associated with cancer progression, they are associated with overall poor clinical outcomes in HCC patients (Fabris, Ceder et al 2016). Therefore, the use of bioinformatics predictive tools and con rmation of the gene targets of microRNAs plays an important role in correct, fast and less expensive selection than experimental-laboratory methods (Meng, Shi et al 2020). Some of these tool's act as a complete atlas of information and include the experimental results of studies conducted in the past and bioinformatics prediction and provide data very close to real results.…”

“…Compared with normal cells, cancer cells and tumor tissues usually evade apoptosis [ 17 ]. Moreover, compared with the levels in adjacent normal liver tissues, the ERK signaling pathway is in an abnormally active state of phosphorylation in liver cancer tissues [ 18 ]. Highly activated growth factors can activate tyrosine kinase and stimulate the ERK signaling pathway, leading to a cascade reaction and the activation of nuclear transcription factors, such as NF-κB, to promote the proliferation of hepatocellular carcinoma cells [ 19 ].…”

“…In hepatocellular carcinoma, miR-101 is proven to specifically bind to vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) mRNA three prime untranslated region (3′-UTR) to decrease protein levels of VEGFA (one of the main isotypes of VEGF) [ 21 ] and inhibit VEGFR2 signaling pathway thereby impair the malignant behavior of HCC cells. MiR-101 could also inhibit the proliferation of liver cancer cells by targeting zinc finger protein 217 (ZNF217), mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPK)/extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) signaling pathways, and hepatocyte growth factor (HGF)/c-MET axis [ 22 , 23 , 24 ]. The expression level of miR-101 is decreased in liver cancer which loses the inhibition effect on the above target genes acting as on–off switches of particular mRNAs or by modulating the relationship between effector and target mRNAs.…”
