Influence of management with salic mulch on soil temperature

Abstract: The use of salic pyroclasts as soil mulch is a common management practice in arid conditions in southern and south-eastern parts of the island of Tenerife (Canary Islands, Spain). It forms the basis for a traditional farming technique, which is known locally as 'jable'. In its various forms the practice, used at heights of 300-1500 metres, covers an area of 3,850 hectares.
